True Story #6
Posted 03.01.2007
I was born in Queens, NY in 1974 I now live in Bethlehem, PA. My upbringing was quite normal I suppose. I was raised Roman Catholic by my mother and father who were both from Italy. As I reached my teen years and into my early twenties, I was always looking for a relationship that would eventually lead to sex. One girl I dated got pregnant when she was 17 and I was 20 years old. She came from a fatherless home and had a mom who worked often. She wanted very much to start a family and I just wanted to keep things the way they were. So I told her that I wanted her to have an abortion but the decision was ultimately "up to her". Well, she ended up having the abortion because she had no one she could turn to. At times I can't imagine what kind of a monster I must have looked like to her. Predictably our relationship went down hill from there and I have not seen her in 12 years. I came to know Jesus a year and a half before I got married 3 years ago and my wife and I had our first child July 21, 2006. It took the birth of our daughter for me to fully understand the horrible decision I made 13 years ago. I have mourned for that lost child heavily and have since been working with a local pregnancy crisis center to help other men heal. Praise be to God and his son Jesus Christ.
