True Story #19

Posted 02.02.2009

My partner of eight years became pregnant. When she was with me, she wanted the baby. When she went home to her mother, she wanted, in her words, "rid" of it. Her mother made her feel stupid and told her she was a disappointment. I did everything I could to keep her from getting an abortion. This went on for seven weeks. Then she told everyone it was because I was nasty and she turned all my friends against me. She had the termination on March 28th 2007. We did get back together and we now have a baby boy. I wish I had never gone back because after nearly two years, the pain still has not gone away and I have to put up with hearing about her mother everyday. I am now in a worse situation than I was two years ago. I wrote this:

Amelia
Even though our time was short
Your presence hardly known
I looked at you, where you lay
In your mothers womb
Just her skin and your safe walls
Were all I had to see?
But Just for that one moment
I kissed you passionately
At the time it was the first
And never did I see
That the walls keeping you safe
Would be invaded so brutally
There you lay so cold and bare
No love just pain, with that I share
The tears the fears and all alone
My beautiful baby
